Projektas Howto-Things buvo inicijuotas 2014 m. Kauno technologijos Universitete veikiančio Tarptautinio Semiotikos Instituto ir toliau kuriamas su Institutio Media. Howto-Things tikslas – skatinti kūrybišką eksperimentavimą bei su tuo susijusius meno srities tyrimus, taip pat sukurti platformą tyrimų metu gimusių idėjų patikrinimui. Howto-Things veikia kaip 'online' laboratorija, sukurianti aplinką apsikeitimui tarpdisciplininėmis žiniomis ir idėjomis.
